MG S6 EV Set to Launch in Nepal on May 11: What to Expect

MG is preparing to strengthen its electric vehicle portfolio in Nepal with the launch of the MG S6 on May 11. The upcoming mid-size electric SUV will enter one of the country’s fastest-growing EV segments, taking on rivals such as the BYD Sealion 7, Deepal S07, and Leapmotor C10.

The S6 will join the MG IM6MG S5, and MG4 EV in MG’s Nepal lineup, and is expected to be positioned between the S5 and IM6.

Design and Exterior

The MG S6 is built on MG’s Modular Scalable Platform, the same architecture used in models like the MG4 EV. The SUV adopts a sharp and modern design language with a more aggressive stance compared to earlier MG SUVs.

At the front, the S6 features angular LED headlamps and a sculpted fascia inspired by the MG Cyberster. The rear receives a full-width LED light bar, while the side profile gets strong character lines and a coupe-like silhouette that gives the SUV a sportier appearance.

Depending on the variant, MG is expected to offer 19-inch alloy wheels on standard trims, while higher variants could feature larger 20-inch wheels.

Interior and Features

Inside, the S6 focuses heavily on technology and comfort. The cabin is equipped with a 12.8-inch infotainment display paired with a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster.

Unlike several newer EVs that rely almost entirely on touchscreen controls, MG has retained physical buttons for key functions, improving ease of use during daily driving.

Standard features are expected to include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and heated front seats. Higher-spec trims are likely to add ventilated seats, wireless charging, panoramic sunroof, an 11-speaker audio system, and integrated apps such as YouTube.

MG also claims the S6 carries a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating.

Battery, Powertrain and Performance

The MG S6 is powered by a 77kWh NMC battery pack and supports DC fast charging of up to 144kW. In the Nepalese market, the S6 will be available in a single-motor rear-wheel-drive variant to produce 180kW and 350Nm of torque.

Top speed

The rear-wheel-drive variant is capable of accelerating from 0–100km/h in approximately 7.3 seconds, while top speed is electronically limited to 200km/h.

Range and Charging

One of the key highlights of the MG S6 is its claimed driving range. The single-motor version delivers a claimed WLTP range of around 529 km on a full charge, positioning it competitively against rivals already available in Nepal.

Practicality and Storage

MG appears to have focused strongly on practicality with the S6. The SUV offers 674 litres of luggage space with all seats in place, expanding to 1,910 litres with the rear seats folded. Additionally, the SUV includes a 124-litre front trunk, providing extra room for charging cables and smaller travel items.

Rivals in Nepal

Once launched, the MG S6 will compete directly against a growing list of premium electric SUVs in Nepal, including the BYD Sealion 7, Deepal S07, and Leapmotor C10.

These models have already established themselves with feature-heavy cabins, competitive range figures, and aggressive pricing strategies. As a result, MG will likely need to rely on a balance of design, practicality, features, and pricing to stand out in the segment.

More details regarding variants, official specifications, and pricing are expected to be revealed during its official launch on May 11.
